The government defends the need to create a management entity for the Maputo Corridor with the necessary powers to coordinate the various investment and development initiatives in this economic zone.
The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, believes that cross-sector collaboration, between the sectors of Customs, Ports and Railways of Mozambique, and Public Works, can maximize the gains of the Maputo Development Corridor.
"Capitalization of mineral rail transport to prevent the growth of this type of cargo from creating constraints for other users on the roads to the Port of Maputo."
"We need to establish performance indicators and service levels for each of the players in the logistics chain, namely electronic sealing of containers and the interface, between the Port and the railroad" said the governor during the closing of the Workshop on the Maputo Corridor, in the country's capital.
The executive director of Empresa de Desenvolvimento do Porto de Maputo, Osório Lucas, pointed to the reduction of bureaucracy as a key factor in improving the competitiveness of the Maputo Corridor. (RM)
