Government guarantees to mobilize funds for Mphanda Nkuwa Dam power transmission line

The Government assured this Monday that it will, through the companies that represent it in the GMNK, namely HCB and EDM, mobilize financing for the construction of a power transmission line, with a length of about 1300 kilometers, in the scope of the Phanda Nkuwa hydroelectric dam construction project.

The project to build the Mphanda Nkuwa dam and Tete-Maputo transport lines is budgeted at about five billion US dollars.

According to engineer Carlos Yum, director of the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project Implementation Office (GMNK), of this figure, 60% will be for the dam construction and 40 for the transmission line.

The Mphanda Nkuwa dam will be installed on the Zambezi River 61 kilometers downstream of the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Plant in Tete province.
