Government considers that terrorism makes the sustainable exploitation of marine resources unfeasible

Violent extremism is the main factor that makes it impossible to implement several projects that would enable the sustainable exploitation of the ocean's resources for the benefit of the population.

According to the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, who was speaking at the opening in Vilankulo of the second edition of the Crescendo Azul Conference that runs until tomorrow, terrorism is a global threat whose eradication requires joint efforts.

"Part of the national territory, specifically, the northern part of Cabo Delgado province, has been under terrorist attacks since the year 2017, which makes management projects and sustainable exploitation of marine resources impossible," he said.

Nyusi believes that this conference should serve as a mirror to make researchers aware of the need to invest in knowledge for the sustainable use of marine resources.
