Mozambican photographer Marcos Júnior was the winner of the sixth edition of the "Somos Imagens da Lusofonia" international competition, with the theme "Man and the Divine".

In a statement, Somos - Associação de Comunicação em Língua Portuguesa (Somos - ACLP) said that Marcos Junior won with an image taken in a church in Mozambique, which shows the symbolic moment when a priest blesses a believer, representing the bridge between the earthly and the spiritual.

Second place went to Adelino Meireles, from Portugal, with his photograph "Saudades", taken in Porto, which portrays the Ukrainian community in religious practices.

Third prize went to João Carlos, also from Portugal, with "Madonna of Wisdom Description", a visual evocation of the maternal instinct and knowledge.

This edition of the competition, according to the Somos ACLP press release, had the highest number of entries to date, with around 300 photographs from various Portuguese-speaking countries.

The exhibition was curated by architect and photographer Francisco Ricarte, and the event was supported by the Macao Culture Development Fund.
