The Mozambican Football Federation (FMF) will receive 500 thousand dollars (32 million Meticais) from CAF for the Mambas' qualification for the African Nations Championship, CAN-2023.
Information provided by "O País" indicates that part of this unspecified amount will be handed over before the CAN even kicks off so that the federations can support their national teams in the process of preparing for the event, while the rest is expected to be handed over after the event.
According to the source, the total value could reach five million dollars, around 320 million Meticais, if the CAN is won.
It is known that the Mambas are in pot four of the CAN-2023 draw, which brings together the group of countries with the lowest ranking, namely Guinea-Bissau, Namibia, Angola, Gambia and Tanzania.
Pot 1 includes the national teams of Morocco, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria. In pot 2 are Cameroon, Mali, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Ghana and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
In pot 3 are South Africa, Cape Verde, Guinea, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea and Mauritania.
The competition will take place between January and February next year in Ivory Coast.
