Simião Ponguane, a journalist for Mozambique Television, lost his life this morning at Maputo Central Hospital as a result of an illness.
Information provided by a TVM says that Ponguane has several times sought treatment abroad, including in Portugal and India.
A statement from Televisão de Moçambique said that the journalist was suffering from liver cancer, a disease he had been fighting for the last three years.
For several years, the old-school journalist was a correspondent for Mozambique's mother television in South Africa, and a notable presenter and moderator of debates on the program Quinta à Noite.
