US wants IMF to support countries with low income and debt problems

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen today urged the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, to step up efforts to help low-income countries with debt problems.

They talked about "priority topics" such as the global economic outlook, recent developments in the US financial sector and the need to continue supporting vulnerable and low-income countries.

Yellen and Georgieva will have the opportunity to meet in person during the spring meetings of the IMF and World Bank, taking place in Washington from April 10 to 16. (Notícias ao Minuto)
