Students at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) will now pay their registration and tuition fees via the M-pesa mobile wallet.
To this end, UEM and the mobile phone company, Vodacom Mozambique, signed a memorandum this Tuesday in Maputo that aims to establish the process of paying tuition fees and enrolling students via M-Pesa.
For the Rector of UEM, Manuel Guilherme Júnior, the signing of the agreement is an advantage for the academic community, because nowadays the efficiency of services in this area in which Vodacom M-pesa operates is very important not only for UEM, but for all private and public entities.
"Having this opportunity means that we will avoid banks being full, with people queuing to make payments," said Manuel Guilherme Júnior.
For her part, Vodacom's Human Resources Director, Kátia Meggy, said that, in the light of the memorandum, it was also intended to expand cooperation with the EMU in the field of technology training and technical and professional development.
