Eni Rovuma Basin has inaugurated a school sports infrastructure at the Cidadela das Crianças ADPP Community Primary School in Maputo, according to a statement issued by the company.
According to the statement, the project consisted in the total reconstruction of a multipurpose sports field with about 600 square meters, for the practice of school sports activities such as basketball, indoor soccer, volleyball and handball, and also includes a fully equipped recreational area for pre-school children.
The implementation of this project, the statement said, aims to develop the educational and physical abilities of students with the goal of improving their academic performance while reducing dropout rates.
The inclusion of sports activities in the curriculum will enable inclusive, equitable and quality education, thus contributing to the expansion of learning opportunities. This infrastructure will benefit about 500 students from the ADPP Children's Citadel and all children residing in the surrounding communities.
With this initiative, Eni Rovuma Basin intends to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely the SDG Good health and well-being, and the SDG Quality education.
This initiative is part of the implementation of the sustainability plan for the Coral Sul project, approved by the Government of Mozambique. Coral Sul is the first project to bring into production considerable natural gas resources from the Rovuma basin in Mozambique, with the first LNG shipment planned for the second half of 2022.
