Business: Government needs USD 2.3 million for formalization of the informal

The government needs 2.3 million dollars to support the formalization of companies operating in the informal sector, with a focus on those operating in the agricultural marketing sector, an official source said a few days ago.

According to Jorge Jairoce, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), the four-year project aims to contribute to the transition of informal businesses into formal ones, especially those in the agricultural sector.

"The project will contribute to the structural transformation of our economy, it will focus on strengthening the capacities of informal sector intermediaries, aggregators and the government," said Jairoce.

The source also said that it will also promote the use of digital financing technologies and the creation and operation of a collective action platform for the agricultural marketing sector."
