DStv and GOtv Mozambique broadcast African Nations Championship Intern 2023

DStv e GOtv Moçambique transmitem o Campeonato Africano das Nações Interno 2023

SuperSport viewers on DStv and GOtv can look forward to the broadcast of the African Nations Championship (CHAN). The competition kicks off today, January 13, with the opening match between Algeria and Libya.

The CHAN, which runs from January 13 to February 4, is dedicated only to African players playing in their own countries.

DStv and GOtv are the only true soccer houses in Mozambique, offering a range and depth of action that no other competitor can match - it's literally "Unbeatable Football".

The 2022 edition of CHAN was initially scheduled for July-August last year. But as a result of the after-effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, CHAN was postponed to the beginning of this year.

This seventh edition of the CHAN - a tournament strictly for players based in African domestic leagues - sees Morocco seeking the title for the third time in a row, having triumphed on home soil in 2018 and in Cameroon in 2021. The Moroccans will face Sudan, Madagascar and Ghana in "Group C".

It's a golden age for Moroccan soccer, with the full senior men's national team reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup, while its clubs dominate CAF competitions such as the Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

However, the Moroccan outfit will face tough competition for the title from their North African rivals and hosts Algeria, who will face Libya, Ethiopia and Mozambique in "Group A". Fennec Foxes coach Madjid Bougherra is looking to "create a family atmosphere with the players and give them a competitive message".

In "Group B", Uganda - who initially withdrew due to lack of funding, will play the Democratic Republic of Congo and West African heavyweights Senegal and Ivory Coast. The Ugandans are looking to get out of the group stage for the first time and have been undergoing an intensive training camp under the watchful eye of coach Milutin Sredojevic.

"We've kept the core of the team that played in the qualifiers against Tanzania," noted 'Micho'. "Now our mission is to try and qualify from our group, a difficult prospect, but we've been training and preparing very well."

Groups D and E are made up of three teams each: the first features Mali, Angola and Mauritania, while the second is made up of Cameroon, Congo and Niger. The Indomitable Lions stand out as the team to watch in these two groups, with coach Alioum Saidou expecting an excellent display from his pupils in CHAN.

"We have to try to make the country proud," Saidou explained. "Being in a group with only three teams means we have no margin for error. We have to prepare well and make sure we're at the highest level when we get to Algeria."

No competitor can compete with SuperSport's coverage. Our viewers on DStv and GOtv enjoy an unrivaled selection of soccer from around the world!
