A journalist from Success TV was run over by the Director of Education, Youth and Technology of the city of Nacala-Porto, Alexandre Mário, after refusing to make statements to the press at the end of a supposed meeting.
As a result, the journalist broke one of his legs. And, according to a note from the National Union of Journalists (SNJ), after the accident, the Director did not have the dignity to provide assistance and fled.
"The journalist was rescued by other people at the scene, who transported him to the District Hospital, where he received first aid and is expected to remain immobilized for at least 30 days," the SNJ said.
The journalist, identified as Felismar Essiaca Agostinho, was trying to collect information from those services about a wave of demands from teachers and other staff in the sector.
"The SNJ regrets and repudiates the attitude of the director of the District Services of Education, Youth and Technology of Nacala-Porto, not only because of the physical damage he caused to the journalist from the Success TVThis is also because such an attitude constitutes a violation of the Press Law in force in the country, with regard to journalists' free access to information of public interest," it reads.
