The Development Office of the Compact II, an institution under the Ministry of Economy and Finance said recently that a mission of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) is in Mozambique to check the implementation stage of the Compact II projects.
The visit began on March 7 and will end on March 25.
The document states that before the end of the inspection visit, the delegation of the MCC, an independent foreign aid institution of the United States (US) Government, will enter into a Revised Development Finance Agreement for the Compact II program.
According to the note, the MCC team held a meeting with the Minister of Economy and Finance, Max Tonela, who reiterated the government's commitment to strengthening institutions; adopting economic policies; and implementing sound policy reforms for the sake of the country's economic and social development.
To be implemented in Zambezia province, which has high levels of poverty and low levels of infrastructure development, Compact II will prioritize three sectors: promoting Investment in Commercial Agriculture; Rural Connectivity and Transport; and Integrated Climate Management and Coastal Development.
