The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, met yesterday with the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, to seek support in the face of the country's crisis.
The purpose of the meeting in Johannesburg was to inform the South African head of state about the current security situation in the country following the recent elections, according to Televisão de Moçambique.
The meeting comes on the eve of the Extraordinary Summit of the Troika of SADC Organs and the Extraordinary SADC Summit to be held next week in Zimbabwe, where the heads of state will receive a report on recent political developments in the region, including elections in Mozambique.
The parties will review political and economic issues in the region with a view to working together to overcome the issues affecting the community.
The Ressano Garcia border, between Mozambique and South Africa, has been operating under conditions due to a wave of demonstrations called by the presidential candidate, Venâncio Mondlane, in protest at the election results.
