Construction: Temane/Maputo power line six months late

Construction work on the Temane/Maputo electricity transmission line, which was supposed to be completed this year, has been delayed by six months, an official source said.

According to the director of the project, Adriano Jonas, quoted by RM, the delay is due to difficulties on the part of the contractors in mobilizing logistics in good time.

The source was speaking this Wednesday in Xai-Xai, at the Twelfth Ordinary Session of the Council of Provincial Services of State Representation in Gaza.

This is a 400 kilo volt line, to be fed through the Temane Thermal Power Station in the Inhassoro district of Inhambane.

The 560-kilometer project could benefit one million new consumers in the provinces of Inhambane, Gaza and Maputo.

The project, valued at 500 million dollars, will also allow for an increase of 16% in electricity generation capacity for domestic and international markets.
