Council of Ministers adopts Anti-Money Laundering Law

The Government approved the revision law on preventing and combating money laundering and terrorist financing.

At Tuesday's session, the spokesman for the council of ministers, Philimon Suazi, explained in detail the importance of the revision of the legal provision.

Money laundering is a process whereby the proceeds of criminal activity are transformed so as to conceal their origin and allow them to be used as if they were lawfully obtained.

Also in this session, the Council of Ministers considered the decree approving the commercial code, as described by Philimon Suazi.

The emergency situation in the rainy and cyclonic season 2021/22 also deserved the attention of the Mozambican executive, in Tuesday's session, according to the government spokesman.

The ninth ordinary session of the council of ministers also approved the proposed revision of the higher education law, which establishes the legal regime and its actors.

He also appreciated the decree that redefines the nature, attributions, and competencies of the Mozambique Documentation and Information Center (CEDIMO), among other issues.
