The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said on Tuesday that it was necessary to find the motivations behind terrorism in Mozambique in order to respond to the situation in Cabo Delgado.
At the Peace, Security and Governance Forum, with the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, the Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, with the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and the President of Niger, Mohamed Bazoum, Filipe Nyusi highlighted the support of the Rwandan and SADC forces, saying that Mozambique has created "an environment where there is involvement from the region".
The President of the Republic said that the partnership with the SADC and Rwandan forces is an example that "African problems must first be solved within the continent itself".
Aside from military action in the fight against terrorism in the north of the country, the President of the Republic also said it was important to "train young people" so that "they don't see poverty as the reason" for joining acts of terrorism.
