The road linking the city of Tete and the town of Moatize has been interrupted since Tuesday morning following heavy rainfall in Tete province due to the passage of the tropical depression.
The fury of the waters caused by tropical storm ANA, completely destroyed the two decks of that bridge, over the Revuboè River, rehabilitated after the 2019 floods.
The calamitous phenomenon also caused localized flooding in some homes in the Chingodzi neighborhoods, in Tete City, and in the administrative post of Benga, in Moatize.
The general director of the Regional Administration of Waters of the Center, Custódio Vicente, explained that the institution will continue to monitor the hydrometric levels of the region's rivers.
For his part, the deputy director-general of the National Meteorological Institute, Mussa Mustafa, says that the system, now weakened to the stage of tropical depression, is expected to leave the country later this afternoon, heading towards Zimbabwe.
Although the tropical depression is dissipating, INAM's deputy director-general warns that the population must continue to observe due care, since the country is in the rainy season.
Mussa Mustafa, revealed that for this rainy season, 6 cyclones are forecasted to occur, but it is premature to say if all of them will affect Mozambique.
