Cabotage accumulates losses due to the suspension of activities in Afungi

The Mozambican Cabotage Company (SMC) revealed that it is accumulating losses of 5 thousand dollars a day due to the temporary stoppage of the cabotage ship that transported equipment for the industrial complex of natural gas processing in the Afungi bay, Cabo Delgado, called "Greta"..

According to the company, the situation comes after the indefinite suspension of the activities of the French multinational Total, due to the terrorist attacks on the town of Palma district headquarters in Cabo Delgado.

"Company decided to interrupt navigation since, with the shutdown of the multinational Total's activities, the vessel was traveling at 15% of its capacity," Luís Carvalho, SMC administrator.

Meanwhile, according to the administrator, at this moment, the transport of general cargo from the Port of Maputo to the central and northern parts of the country is being done by a foreign vessel that has established a partnership with SMC, in order to ensure the services while waiting for the resumption of activities in Afungi.
