The government of Cabo Delgado has decided to postpone the final exams in 20 schools in the Macomia district until January 2025, due to the terrorist attacks that forced classes to stop for three months and three weeks.
In a publication by Letter from MozambiqueThe head of the Pedagogical Department of the Provincial Directorate of Education and Human Development in Cabo Delgado, Rachide Sualehe, pointed out that the final exams in that district, affected by terrorism since 2017, will be held on January 6, 2025, outside the timetable set by the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINED).
The idea, according to the official, is to extend classes until the end of December in order to make up for lost time, adding that the teachers have already been instructed to do so.
"We have reached a consensus that the school calendar will be extended until the end of December. Final exams will not be held in 2024. Instead, teaching will continue during the month of December and the exams will be held from January 6, 2025," he explained, noting that the second call is scheduled to end on January 17.
