Cabo Delgado: Kagame says 80% terrorism problem solved

Rwandan President Paul Kagame assures that the problem of terrorism in Cabo Delgado province has been solved. The source says that most of the displaced people can now return to their areas of origin.

Paul Kagame, who was speaking to the press in Kigali last week, said that progress had been made in combating the phenomenon.

"As for security and stability in Mozambique, in the area where we are working with Mozambicans to make the affected areas safe, especially in Cabo Delgado province, I can safely say that the problem has largely been resolved," President Ruandes told the local press, quoted by "O País".

"We see a lot of progress. We can say that perhaps 80% of the problem has been solved," said Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda," he added.

According to Kagame, the improvement in the situation is allowing people to return to their areas of origin and for economic activities to resume as normal.

"Most of the displaced people are returning to their villages and homes and resuming their activities. We believe that the presence of the SADC troops, deployed in that area, is what is helping to restore security and stability," said the Rwandan statesman.

"Economic activities are tending to resume, including some investments such as the Total company, which is already planning to resume its activities. It's natural that there are small aspects that need to be overcome for them to resume, but I believe that this will be possible with the collaboration of the various forces with the local force, where some progress can already be seen."
