The city of Beira, the provincial capital of Sofala, is hosting a logistics and trade conference on Wednesday (11), organized by Standard Bank with the aim of exploring the potential and investment opportunities in the central region of the country, as well as in the hinterland countries..

The event is part of Standard Bank's 130th anniversary celebrations.

According to a Savannah newspaperDuring the event, the strategic role of the city of Beira as a logistics center will be highlighted, as it is home to the second largest port and the second largest industrial park in the country.

Given its strategic location and the vast chain of logistical infrastructures, the city contributes to regional integration, allowing the countries of the hinterland access to various regional and international markets.

Standard Bank has stood out as one of the main financiers and promoters of growth in the logistics and trade sectors, including other cross-cutting areas, playing an important role in the materialization of various projects, such as all the development corridors in operation in the country (Maputo, Beira and Nacala).

The event will be attended by the main players in the trade and logistics sector from the city of Beira and the rest of the country, who will discuss investment potential, innovation in the sector, as well as strategies to empower local businesses and entrepreneurs.

The senior advisor for the African Union's Agriculture and Trade Value Chains in Ghana, Prosper Komla Bissi, and representatives from the companies Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM), Terramar in the city of Beira, Associação Comercial da Beira, Transcom and Cornelder, among other guests, are also expected to take part.

Standard Bank will be represented at the event at the highest level by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Esselina Macome, the Managing Director, Bernardo Aparício, including senior managers who will take part in the two panel discussions, which will focus on "The Development Corridor: Investment Opportunities in Beira" and "Establishing a Resilient Value Chain".
