BCI, BIM and Standard remain as systemically important banks in Mozambique for the 2nd consecutive time

The Bank of Mozambique considers Banco Comercial e de Investimentos (BCI), Banco Internacional de Moçambique (Millennium BIM) and Standard Bank to be the three most systemically important credit institutions for the second time in a row.

This year, BCI tops the list, swapping positions with Millennium bim. According to the ratio that measures importance to the sector, labeled D-SIB, BCI tops the list with 253 points, followed by Millennium bim with 238 and Standard Bank with 131.

On the list, Absa Moçambique is almost systemically important, with 95 points.

According to Banco de Moçambique, the list includes another 30 domestic institutions of no systemic importance.

According to the law, the Bank of Mozambique is obliged to publish the list of credit institutions classified as 'D-SIB' or 'almost D-SIB' by April 30 of each year, based on the data reported on December 31 of the previous year.
