Rovuma Basin: Coral Sul reaches 100 gas shipments in Cabo Delgado

Bacia do Rovuma: Coral Sul atinge 100 carregamentos de gás, em Cabo Delgado

Yesterday, the Coral Sul FLNG natural gas extraction platform in the Rovuma Basin in Cabo Delgado province reached its 100th LNG shipment to the international market, in a context in which the ENI-led consortium has been in discussions with the government for over a year about the introduction of a second floating platform.

"With the loading that took place at the end of today, the project achieves one of its operational objectives, which was to produce and liquefy natural gas with optimum levels of safety, providing a reliable and cleaner energy alternative to the world, from Mozambique," reads a statement from the National Petroleum Institute (INP).

The plant, anchored in ultra-deep waters off Cabo Delgado, has been exporting LNG on a weekly basis since November 2022.

This milestone attests to the quality of Mozambican gas and the energy potential that still exists to meet the needs of a world that is still thirsty for clean energy, said Nazário Bangalane, Chairman of the Board of INP.

The Coral Sul FLNG project is operated by Eni on behalf of Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV), a consortium that includes ExxonMobil and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), which holds a 70% stake. The remaining 30% are distributed equally between ENH, Galp and the South Korean company Kogas, each with 10%.
