The justice authorities recovered the equivalent of 290 million meticais, in national and foreign currency, resulting from criminal acts, between the years 2015 and 2021.
In the same period, 55 properties valued at about 30 million meticais were recovered, in addition to eighty-two vehicles of different makes and models, also resulting from illicit acts.
The data were released yesterday in Maputo at the opening of the training of Public Prosecutors, Central and Provincial Anti-Corruption Offices and members of Civil Society on Asset Recovery.
On the occasion, the director of the Central Office for Asset Recovery, Amelia Machava, said that the authorities intend to improve the process of recovering assets, in acts of corruption and embezzlement of money and other assets, through civil confiscation.
The process aims to allow the recovery of assets before the judgments, in court proceedings.
