Mozambique is participating since Monday in the second edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), which runs until next Sunday in Durban, South Africa. Through the Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), Mozambique is taking several national products to the fair.
The African Union initiative is promoted in partnership with the African Import and Export Bank (Afreximbank) and the Secretariat of the Free Trade Area in Africa, where about 10,000 people are expected to participate.
With some 1100 exhibitors, the event brings together business personalities, entrepreneurs, financiers, governments, and regulators who will discuss the acceleration of trade and investment across the African continent.
According to the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, who was speaking during the opening of the event, African countries need to accelerate the processes for the implementation of the free trade zone in Africa, to enable the dissemination of "Made in Africa" products. For Ramaphosa, the idea is to boost the production and export of finished and quality products and industrial capacity, finance, services and infrastructure from the continent to local and global markets
"We are very encouraged by the sentiment expressed by the African Development Bank in committing to provide loans to boost the investments we want to develop our industry" the South African statesman annointed.
