Economic agents cautious about 2022 due to pandemic and terrorism

For the national economic agents the year 2022 is still uncertain, since the last two years have been of little work for this class. For this reason, they are expectant about the economic growth prospects 2.9% presented by the Government.

The Executive believes that this year's improved growth will be possible, among other things, because of the balance in the implementation of prevention measures and control of Covid-19 infection levels, influenced by the immunization process through the vaccine.

It is also believed that agriculture and the extractive industry will contribute significantly to a better performance of the Mozambican economy, in what is seen as the start of the recovery.

Meanwhile, businessmen's caution stems mainly from the fact that, for example, in 2021 growth has been revised down to 1.5 percent due to the occurrence of natural calamities, uncertainties generated by the climate of insecurity in some regions of the Central and Northern zones, and the pandemic of the new coronavirus.

According to the Domingo newspaper report, the endogenous and exogenous factors that hurt the economy's performance in 2021 will prevail in 2022, highlighting, at the domestic level, the Covid-19 pandemic and the terrorist attacks in Cabo Delgado.
