South Africa urges US to withdraw bill targeting African continent

África do Sul exorta EUA a retirar projecto de lei que mira o continente africano

South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said a few days ago that the bill currently before the US Congress, which aims to punish countries on the African continent that trade with Russia with sanctions, needs to be dropped because it violates international law.

"I think this bill should be withdrawn because it is absolutely unfounded, it is contrary to international law, and we have made that clear to our colleagues in the United States," she said.

Pandor added that South African chancellors met with the author of the original draft and pointed out violations in the proposal. (Integrity)
