CPLP Mobility Agreement worries entrepreneurs

Businessmen from the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) showed concern about the delay in implementing Mobility Agreement between the member states of the community during the meeting of the Board and the General Assembly of the Business Confederation (EC-CPLP).

On the occasion, those present praised the signing of the Mobility Agreement by the CPLP governments in July 2021, in Angola, but said that its implementation "leaves something to be desired" since it was expected to start in January 2022.

According to EC-CPLP President Salimo Abdula, the process does not satisfy the intentions of businessmen from the Portuguese Oficial Speaking African Countries (PALOP).

According to Abdula, the hard and persistent work that his management is doing, since 2014, found its highest point at the Angola summit, with the signing of the Mobility Agreement.

"However, greater pragmatism is needed in the implementation of this Agreement, in order to break down the barriers that still reign in doing business and create dificulties to the movement of our citizens," he said.

The official called for joint work that allows citizens and businessmen, in particular, to move freely within the community, creating greater dynamism in commercial and socio-cultural relations between peoples.

"We are a community and we must position ourselves as such," said Salimo Abdula.

Among the greatest difficulties that PALOP entrepreneurs encounter is, in particular, obtaining entry visas to the Republic of Portugal, while the opposite is easier.

Besides the theme about mobility in the CPLP, the businessmen, representing their CE-CPLP member entities, unanimously approved the organization's accounts and activities report.
