Vehicle Access to the Port of Matola now costs almost two thousand meticais

As of this Monday, August 1st, the company Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) starts charging for vehicle access to the Port of Matola, indicates a notice from the company published last week.

Charges for access to the established port range from 450 meticais to 1.850 meticais/day. For motorcycles, CFM now charges 120 meticais.

The company says that the charges initiated are part of the implementation of the port access control system in order to ensure the protection and safety of its assets and users.

A vehicle with up to nine seats now pays a daily fee of 450 meticais to access the port of Matola while vehicles over nine seats pay 600 meticais. A mixed cargo vehicle of 3.5 tons pays 750 meticais and cargo and mixed vehicles up to 20 tons pay 1,200 meticais. The highest price is for a cargo vehicle over 20 tons, which pays 1,850 meticais. In addition to the metical, the national currency, prices will be charged in US dollars and South African rand.

It is estimated that currently, the Maputo corridor circulates 170 trucks/day meaning 5,100 trucks/month (Camaramen)
