Absa Bank Moçambique promotes training program for young people

Absa Bank Mozambique promotes a pan-African campaign of Youth Empowerment for the labor market - Ready to Work. It aims to equip them with strategic tools for the transition from academic life to the professional world, also promoting the development of interpersonal skills, communication skills, financial, business and professional skills.

The program is free of charge and is dedicated to all young Mozambicans, from 16 to 35 years of high school, technical or university graduates, starting on August 12, alluding to the International Youth Day.

The director of Customer Service of Absa Bank Mozambique, Tânia Oliveira, said that with the launch of the 6th edition of the Ready to Work program, "we seek to strengthen our commitment to the training of young people, contributing in this way to the sustainable development of the country".

The program, says the responsible cited in the release "is practical and we bet on an integrated strategy of modules, where participants will have the opportunity to learn the various stages of the journey into the world of work.

The director also says that "this year, we will continue with a digital model, with a view to reaching young people nationally and beyond".

In turn, Pedro Mendes, director of Flow Group, Absa's partner company in this initiative said that "it is extremely gratifying to have clients, like Absa, that share one of our greatest goals - to contribute to the development of young people in their personal and professional journey.

Ready to Work has become since 2016 a reference program, with a clear and unique value proposition for the young people who go through this experience. For us, Flowgroup, it is more than a project, it is a purpose".

In 2016, in the face-to-face model, discontinued by the Covid-19 outbreak, it covered about 9800 young people. In turn, in the 2020 edition, based on the impact measurement questionnaire, of the 1045 respondents, Absa found that at least 72 people have started their own business and 684 are looking for opportunities. In percentage terms, of the total respondents, 27.6% got jobs and 6.9% became entrepreneurs.
