Prime Minister challenges new public company managers to reach targets

Primeiro-ministro desafia novas gestoras de empresas públicas a alcançarem metas

The prime minister, Adriano Maleiane, challenged the three new managers of the same number of public companies to strive to achieve the targets set in their respective areas, including revenue collection.

Speaking on Monday (19) in Maputo, after swearing in Elisa Zacarias as Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the Mozambican Tax Authority (AT), Ludovina Bernardo, PCA of the National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH), and Amélia Muendane, as PCA of Mozambique Airports, he said that for the hydrocarbons area, the central challenge is to massify the use of natural gas, and for airports, the focus is on improving airport infrastructures.

With regard to Ludovina Bernardo, the new CEO of ENH, a sector facing challenges in the development of hydrocarbon projects, Maleiane pointed out the need for a lot of work to consolidate technological and institutional tools for greater competitiveness in the national and international markets.

"Continue to adopt measures that increasingly ensure its participation in the entire hydrocarbon value chain, namely investment, research, development, production, marketing and distribution of petroleum resources," he said, quoted by the Portuguese daily AIM.

Regarding the Aeroportos de Moçambique company, the prime minister challenged the new CEO, Amélia Muendane, to improve the airport infrastructure, bringing a more comfortable and safe environment for passengers and users.

"It is necessary to make airports intelligent and efficient providers of high-quality services, favoring the establishment of mutually beneficial partnerships," said Maleiane.

For her part, AT's new PCA, Elisa Zacarias, said that the priority is to collect revenue for the state.

"We're going to continue the work [we've already started]. We have to collect revenue by raising awareness among economic agents and society in general about paying taxes for the development of our country," said Zacarias.
