The Municipality of Nampula intends to take out a bank loan of 50 million meticais to guarantee the payment of salaries to municipal employees. The measure comes after six months of governance by the new mayor, Luís Giquira.
According to the finance councillor of the Nampula municipality, Pereira da Fonseca Napuana, quoted by the newspaper "The Country"Half of the loan amount, approximately 24 million meticais, is intended specifically for the payment of salaries.
"We would have 50% of that 50 million allocated to a current account for human resources, which would total, on average, 25 million meticais. The municipality would be allocating this amount and saying 'let's save it for human resources in order to effectively guarantee the payment of salaries to all municipal employees'," he explained in the same publication.
Pereira da Fonseca also pointed out that this measure aims to ensure that, even if the central government delays or delays transfers from the Municipal Compensation Fund (FCA), the municipality will be able to pay the salaries of all employees.
