50 new classrooms planned for Cabo Delgado

Projectadas 50 novas salas de aula para Cabo Delgado

Around 50 classrooms will be built in seven districts of Cabo Delgado province next year, as part of the Fundo de Apoio ao Sector da Educação (FASE) program.

The classrooms will be built in Pemba, Mecufi, Meluco, Chiúre, Montepuez, Balama and Namuno, said the spokesman for the Provincial Directorate of Education, Melchior Patrício.

The aim of the project is to make up for the shortfall in school infrastructure in these districts, which are suffering from the effects of terrorism in the province.

"We're still prioritizing the south-central areas of the province as we're still having difficulties with construction in the north," he said, noting that progress in the north depends on the situation normalizing.

'This doesn't mean that nothing is being done. We have partners rehabilitating schools in Mocímboa da Praia, Palma, Nangade/, We are working on it", he assured.

According to Melchior Patrício, there are classrooms at an advanced stage of construction, such as the elementary school in Ancuabe, Namuno and Namitil. In Meluco, construction work has been interrupted due to the terrorist situation. (Source: Radio Mozambique)
