The Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Amilton Alissone, and the management of Yango Mozambique discussed yesterday, Wednesday (03), the workings, challenges and prospects for expanding the international technology company's mobility services in the country. At a meeting in Maputo, the deputy minister acknowledged Yango's work in terms of safety and integration into the country's transport sector.
After the meeting, Amilton Alissone, highlighted Yango's role in Mozambique's mobility system, acknowledging his satisfaction at seeing Yango's different stages and progress since the start of operations in Maputo and Matola in November 2022.
In terms of safety and service, he stressed that Yango had integrated technological solutions into the app that had responded to passengers' initial concerns and had contributed to improving mobility and fare sustainability."
Among these safety features, he highlighted the emergency button, which allows passengers and drivers to communicate directly with the police authorities; the "option for passengers to add phone numbers of trusted people to the app, so that they can follow journeys in real time; and the continuous recording of information about races, passengers and drivers in Yango's database, which allows any interested party to make use of the information whenever there are safety issues.
For his part, Yango's general manager in Mozambique, Zameer Adam, highlighted the company's plans to expand to other parts of the country, stressing that "we are currently analyzing the possibility of launching the service in other provinces".
"I was recently received by the president of the Beira City Council, who embraced our initiative. Maybe we'll be in this city soon," he said.
