The Mozambican state owes 1595 officials and agents in Memba district, Nampula province, 86,377,998.00 meticais, relating to salaries, administrative acts, funeral and death allowances, overtime and a shift and a half.
The information was revealed at the extraordinary session of the district government, held on the occasion of the public presentation of the new administrator, Manuel João Cintura. The report, presented at the event, states that the majority of the employees due are professionals in the education, youth and technology sectors.
Thus, the new administrator has the challenge of, among other things, settling the payment of community leaders' allowances, which have been due since the second quarter of 2023.
Meanwhile, Manuel João Cintura, quoted by the newspaper NewsHe said that the solution to this and other challenges depended on the collaboration and commitment of technicians from various sectors of activity, including the community leaders themselves.
The source expressed his willingness to work with the existing staff and resources, with a focus on improving the living conditions of the communities. He assured that he "intends to continue the development projects started by his predecessor".
For his part, the governor of Nampula, Manuel Rodrigues Alberto, called on the new administrator to focus on solving local problems. Regarding the debts to employees, he said that it was "a matter that needs strategies to be overcome".
To this end, he said it was important that all the staff got down to work to produce results, through which it would be possible to raise revenue for the state.
