BAD aprova empréstimo de 5M$ para instalação de mais dois radares meteorológicos em Moçambique

The African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved another five million dollars to support Mozambique's National Meteorological Institute (INAM), after granting 40 million dollars to the public company Portos e Caminhos-de-Ferro (CFM) for the purchase of rolling stock.

According to INAM's director general, Mussa Mustafa, quoted by AIM, these five million dollars will be used to install two more weather radars.

"In the next few days, we will launch a public tender to select the company that will be responsible for installing the radars," he said.

The money will also be used to build INAM facilities in the city of Nacala, in the northern province of Nampula, as well as in Xai-Xai, in the southern province of Gaza.

"The measure aims to reduce the impact of climate change and strengthen the early warning system," the source concluded.
