Mozambique and the IEA mobilize investment in the energy sector

Mozambique and the International Energy Agency (IEA) are working to attract more investment in the sector to the country.

This was announced by the executive director of the IEA, Fatih Birol, in a brief meeting with the press in Rome, the Italian capital, on Sunday, minutes after the end of an audience granted to him by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, who is taking part in the Italy-Africa Summit.

Quoted by AIM, Birol said that he had a fruitful conversation with the Mozambican statesman about the country's enormous energy potential. "The meeting served to assess the transformation of the energy sector to make the country economically prosperous, from the exploitation of natural gas, hydroelectric power, among others," he added, stressing that: "we are working together on a strategy that will attract many investors from all over the world".

During the meeting, the two discussed the next steps to be taken to materialize the Mozambican government's ambition.
