Yesterday afternoon (30), the Renamo Party submitted a criminal complaint to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) against the president of the National Electoral Commission (CNE), Carlos Matsinhe, and 16 other members of the electoral body.
Renamo accuses the CNE of having manipulated the results of the sixth municipal elections on October 11, giving victory to Frelimo in 64 municipalities and one to the MDM.
"This criminal complaint that we are leaving is to make them answer and explain to the Mozambican people why they went ahead with such measures," said Renamo's representative, Glória Salvador, after submitting the criminal complaint.
Among those accused, in addition to Bishop Carlos Matsinhe, is the vice-president of the CNE, Fernando Mazanga, who represents Renamo on the body, and 15 other members.
"The CNE gave Frelimo victory in Chiúre, Alto-Molócuè, Quelimane and Vilanculos. That can't stand, they must be prosecuted. What trick did they use to achieve this victory for Frelimo? By the way, the CC has changed, but we also want to know what mathematics it used," she said.
Renamo reiterated that it will continue to file criminal cases, at district and provincial level, in the municipalities where it believes it has been wronged.
