Renamo promised today to fight to the last consequences so that the will expressed at the ballot box is respected and urged all Mozambicans to continue with the peaceful marches nationwide, despite the actions of the police.
In fact, Renamo has already warned that if the police continue to attack the population and prevent peaceful demonstrations, it will not take responsibility for the proportions they take.
"In this context, here and now we once again call on all Mozambicans to continue with the peaceful demonstrations throughout the country to demand electoral truth, respect for the will of Mozambicans and the restoration of fair results," said Renamo secretary general Clementina Bambo.
"We know that the enemies of peace and reconciliation are going to use the police and weapons to repress and murder our people, but you can't cover the sun with a sieve, because the party you want to proclaim as the winner was denied at the polls," he said today in Maputo city.
Renamo believes that the manipulation of results, announced yesterday, means the annihilation of democracy and it is the duty of every peace-loving citizen, of social harmony and national development to prevent this from happening.
Renamo concludes by urging the living forces that love peace and democracy not to give up in the struggle for a Mozambique that we all want to be peaceful, inclusive, reconciled and belonging to everyone.
