The Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, said this Wednesday in Beijing, China, that Mozambique, during its mandate as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, in the 2023/2024 biennium, has as one of its agenda points to prioritize actions that contribute to reaching consensus on the best ways to tackle climate change.
Adriano Maleiane was speaking at the High Level Panel on Green Development, with a focus on climate change, as part of the third Forum of the Belt and Road Initiative for Cooperation, an event he is attending on behalf of the Head of State, Filipe Nyusi.
He said that Mozambique is looking for transnational strategies to minimize the impact of the natural disasters that have been hitting some regions of the country.
For Maleiane, "the problem of climate change represents one of the major challenges facing the world in the process of sustainable development".
However, the source said that Mozambique is aware that its geographical location makes the country vulnerable, which is why it is harmonizing its natural disaster prevention strategy.
"The Government of Mozambique has taken a series of measures to strengthen the natural disaster management system with a focus on prevention and mitigation," said Maleiane.
