Armindo Tiago says strike will not solve health professionals' concerns

The Minister of Health says that a strike is not the way to resolve the concerns of the Association of Health Professionals. Armindo Tiago says that they should resort to dialog and present their demands to the government.

About two weeks ago, a group of health professionals, known as the Association of Health Professionals, announced a 20-day stoppage of their activities, starting on June 1, in protest against the alleged lack of protective equipment in the laboratories of the health units and against the irregularities in the Single Wage Scale.

The Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, reacted to the issue and said that paralyzing activities is not the way to resolve the concerns of the class and called for dialogue.

"No strike can solve the problem, so we call on our colleagues not to join it. We, as the Ministry of Health, have already begun negotiations with the associations. Our intention is for them to be able to understand that only on the basis of dialog can there be a solution," said Armindo Tiago.

The Association of Health Professionals is complaining about irregularities in the Single Wage Scale and the lack of protective equipment in the laboratories of health units. Meanwhile, Tiago said that professionals should use the appropriate channels to lodge complaints. "There is a normal mechanism for channeling problems," he said. (The Country)
