The Attorney General of the Republic (PGR), Beatriz Buchili, promised on Wednesday to hand over the documents demanded by the London court to avoid the annulment of the hidden debts case.
Buchili, who was speaking in the city of Praia, where he is on an official visit at the invitation of his Cape Verdean counterpart, José Luís Landim, said that the documents will be sent to the Commercial Court in London in time for the British judge to decide to annul the case.
"I don't know if it's at risk, because we're currently in the process of an interlocutory disclosure of documents and we're working on it," said Beatriz Buchili, quoted by Lusa.
It should be remembered that in March, a British judge admitted to quashing the hidden debts case underway in the London Commercial Court due to Mozambique's failure to share relevant documents in preparation for the trial in October.
Judge Robin Knowles criticized the lack of involvement of the British lawyers representing the Republic of Mozambique in the process of selecting official documents and urged the Mozambican Attorney General's Office (PGR) to provide greater access.
Meanwhile, for the prosecutor, "it's true that it's a process that has to be collected from various institutions and we have procedural deadlines, but we're coping in order to comply with the legal procedures".
