The adjustments to the new national minimum wages in the eight sectors and sub-sectors of activity vary between 200 and 1500 meticais and are due to come into effect this month, the Minister of Labor and Social Security announced on Tuesday.
According to Margarida Talapa, the new minimum wages are the ones that were within the government's reach, and not the ones it wanted to provide for the working class.
He also said that the figures approved were the result of consensus negotiations with the Labor Advisory Council (LAC).
The Agriculture, Hunting, Livestock and Siviculture sector saw an increase of 11.5%, from 5,200 meticais to 5,800 meticais. Maritime, Industrial and Semi-Industrial Fishing saw an increase of 6.9%, from 5,820.75 meticais to 6,220.75 meticais. In the Kapenta Fishing sub-sector, the increase was 4.4%, from 4,591.68 meticais to 4,791.68 meticais.
In the Mineral Extraction Industry and Large Companies, the increase was 16%, from 10,353.58 meticais to 12,020.2 meticais.
The increase in the Quarrying, Trees and Medium-sized Enterprises sub-sector was 8.5%, from 6,830 meticais to 7,380 meticais.
In the Salinas, Micro and Small enterprises the increase was 47,8%, going from 5.759 meticais to 6.034 meticais.
In Manufacturing, the increase was 10.10%, from 7,945 to 8,747.50 meticais.
In the Bakery sub-sector, the increase was 10.33%, from 5,710 meticais to 6,300 meticais.
In the Cashew sub-sector, the minimum wage rose from 5,310 meticais to 5,853.21 meticais, representing an increase of 10,12%.
The Production and Distribution of Electricity, Gas and Water, Large Companies sector rose by 12,33%, from 9,325 meticais to 10,475 meticais.
For Small and Medium Enterprises, the increase was 12,33%, from 7,566.72 meticais to 8,500 meticais.
In the Construction sector, the increase was 10,16%, from 6,700 meticais to 7,409 meticais.
In the Non-Financial Services sector, the increase was 10,28%, from 7,774.50 meticais to 8,574 meticais.
In the sub-sector of Hotels, Tourism and Similar, the increase was 11% from 6.950 meticais to 7.715 meticais.
The Private Security sector will see an increase of 3,98%, from 7,525 meticais to 7,825 meticais.
In the Fuel Retailers subsector, the increase was 8,87%, from 7,774.50 meticais to 8,464.50 meticais.
The Financial Services, Banking and Insurance sector saw an increase of 12%, from 14,340.85 meticais to 16,061.32 meticais.
In the Micro Finance and Micro Insurance sub-sector, the increase was 11,77%, rising from 12,741.29 meticais to 14,241.29 meticais.
