The terminal has the capacity to handle up to three million metric tons and is being operated at around half its capacity.
The aluminum terminal handled 1,864,447 tons last year, and this year it is expected to handle around two million tons, its total capacity.

STEMA's performance last year was due to the cargo of wheat from South Africa, which was exported through the Port of Matola in an emergency, and not necessarily because it won a customer, explained the Director of the Port of Matola, Arlindo Fondo, quoted by the newspaper. Sunday.
The poor performance that has marked the activities of STEMA's terminal, which can handle half a ton of cargo, has to do with the crisis in Zimbabwe, one of the terminal's main clients.
