The Minister of State Administration and Civil Service, Ana Comoane, revealed that the implementation of the Single Salary Table (TSU) will mean the retirement of almost 20,000 state employees and agents in Mozambique.

In a hearing this Monday (20-02) before the Parliamentary Committees on Constitutional Affairs, Human Rights and Legality (1st), Planning and Budget (2nd) and Public Administration and Local Government (4th) of the Portuguese Parliament, the Minister of State Administration and the Civil Service began by clarifying that, in the first phase of implementation of the TSU, "it consisted of migrating around a thousand state employees and agents to the TSU".The Minister for State Administration and the Civil Service began by clarifying that, in the first phase of implementing the TSU, "which consisted of migrating around 400,000 state employees and agents to the new electronic Human Resources management platform, (...) we found that there were 18,964 employees aged 60 or over".

Ana Comoane explained that "the Statute of State Employees and Agents stipulates that once a worker has reached the age of 60 with at least 15 years' service, he or she must retire".

Quoted by the newspaper "A Verdade", the Minister for State Administration and the Civil Service revealed that, of the 18,964 state employees aged 60 or over, "2,172 were effectively made redundant in December (2022), with the rest in the process of being made redundant in each of the sectors".
