Last Friday, the governments of the European Union reached an agreement to set limits on the price of Russian diesel, according to the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the European Union on Twitter.
The ceiling does not affect purchases from the EU bloc, which as of this Sunday bans all imports of oil derivatives from Russia, explained the Efe agency, quoted by Lusa, but it does prevent European operators from transporting and insuring these products if they are sold at a price higher than the fixed ceiling.
"We must continue to deny Russia the means to finance its war against Ukraine. The EU ban on importing oil products comes into force on Sunday. With the G7 we are limiting the price of these products, reducing Russia's revenues and ensuring stable global energy markets," said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Twitter.
