Hidden Debts: Public Ministry requests seizure of assets from 19 defendants

The Judicial Court of Maputo City, represented in the case of Hidden Debts by the judge of the case, Efigénio Baptista, announced this Thursday that the Public Ministry requested the provisional seizure of assets of the 19 defendants in the main case of the case.

With the injunction, the Public Prosecutor wants to see the seizure of real estate, vehicles and bank accounts as assets resulting from the money diverted from the loans in question

"It's a 40-page dispatch and it's to be given to the lawyers of each of the 19 defendants," Baptista said.

Baptista announced the indictment at the end of the first day of the hearing of former Mozambican President Armando Guebuza, who testified as a declarant in the hidden debts case.

The judge in the case also announced a period of seven working days for the preparation of closing arguments.

Efigénio Baptista said that he will announce, this Friday or next Monday, the date when the counting period will start, after Armando Guebuza's hearing.
