The Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, João Machatine, explained, this Tuesday, that the prices to be charged on the Maputo ring road will safeguard the social component.
Speaking this Tuesday at the end of the second ordinary session of the Council of Ministers, João Machatine said that the prices foreseen in the toll project were higher.
"And this financial model even showed values above those that we are now practicing, therefore they indicated values that varied for class 1, from 50 to 65 meticais per vehicle, including paying in all the tolls, but considering this social component and taking into account what is the capacity of our population, we went ahead with mitigation measures. The first measure was to reduce the fees that the model indicated to 40 meticais class 1, which is the majority of the vehicles", he stressed.
Minister of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, João Machatine announced that tolls on the Maputo ring road will go into operation as of February 1.
