"Protection of the oceans is crucial for the well-being of the next generations" - Filipe Nyusi

Government believes that protecting the oceans is crucial so that present actions do not compromise the well-being of the next generations.

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said this Thursday that this purpose can only be achieved if global concerns arising from the misuse of resources, which leads to the destruction of habitats, are addressed.

For Filipe Nyusi, "the oceans, as regulators of climate and temperature, should be understood as the common heritage of humanity, a critical element of the continuity of human life, alongside their role as suppliers of food and sustenance for millions of people.

According to the Head of State, the motto chosen for this Vilankulo conference, which is: "Investing in the health of the oceans is investing in the future of the planet," means that from this district, approaches must be guided so that the appreciation of the strategic importance of the sea is realized, through sustained management of maritime areas.
